building homes, building hope.
Our goal is to bring communities together to help families build strength, stability and independence through affordable homeownership.
Our History.
Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1976 in Americus, Georgia, United States by Millard and Linda Fuller and has since spread to 70 countries around the world. Established in 2009, Habitat for Humanity Chatham-Kent is a non-profit organization helping low-income families achieve the dream of homeownership through an affordable, interest free mortgage.

Our Goals.
Strength
A Habitat home is a strong foundation for a family, an opportunity on which they can build a better life. Strong and stable homes help build strong and stable communities.
Stability
A Habitat home is a stabilizing force for a family. Better, affordable living conditions lead to improved health, stronger childhood development and the financial flexibility to make forward looking choices.
Self-Reliance
Through shelter, we empower. A decent place to live and an affordable mortgage help homeowners save more, invest in education, pursue opportunity and have more financial stability.
How it Works.
Habitat homes are built by volunteers and donors and sold to qualified families.
Habitat holds the mortgage, charges no interest and amortizes the mortgage for as many years as necessary to ensure families pay no more than 30% of their income for mortgage and taxes.

Habitat for Humanity Chatham-Kent does not provide free homes. The families who partner with us invest directly into their homes equity and commit 500 volunteer hours to our organization. Families purchase their home at fair market value with no down payment and pay an affordable mortgage. Families who partner with Habitat for Humanity CK, understand that a home is a longterm commitment and investment.
Our Core Values.

Even after two full years of owning our home, walking up to our front steps usually sparks a comment from one of my children, "can you believe that this is ours? I love our house."

Rest and safety - those are the most prominent feelings I had once I accepted that my new home was actually my home. They are also feelings that I had not felt for so long.
